1) Tourist in Rio Arrested for Drug Possession and Bribery

This article is about a 27-year-old off-duty agent of the French Federal Police who was arrested for drug possession and bribery during his visit to Rio de Janeiro. He who claimed that back home in France, he has been told that bribery is a common practice in Brazil, attempted to bribe the police after he was caught smoking marijuana behind Lapa Arches. However he was released the next day after the arrest as he posed no risk to the society.
This article proves that the enforcement of the law in Brazil is still trustworthy despite all the bad rumors about the corruptions happen there. The arrest of the tourist for both drug possession and bribery acts is a good move, however releasing him the next day because "he posed no risk to the society" is the most ridiculous thing ever. If Brazilian courts keep releasing criminals for nonsense excuses like this, then the world will always has bad impression towards Brazilian law and the people will also thinks that it's okay to commit crimes in Brazil.

2) Brazil Soybean Exports Setting New Record

Brazil soybean exports have set records during this first half of 2014, now making the country as the second largest soybean exporter of the world, just behind USA. From January through May 2014, the total exported value was 12.6 billion USD, surpassing the sales of the traditionally exported product of Brazil which is iron ores. The increased production is due to the greater productivity and the increased planting area. Sao Paolo and Parana are the main ports for soybean exports. This new record shows the importance of Brazilian agribusiness.
This article is surely a very good news not only for Brazil, but also for the countries that their economy relies mostly on their agricultural products. Agribusiness is always ignored by most countries since they think that industrial business is more economically stable. However, this new record proves that agribusiness also has the power to develop the economy of the country. Look at Brazil, they are now the second largest soybean exporter of the world.

3) New Education Center Opens in Rio's Bairro Carioca

This article is about a new education center that was opened in May at the Bairro Carioca as a part of the city's effort of urban transformation in anticipation of the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016. The center will provide young people with digital literacy, information technology and tourism courses taught in English. The center is funded by the My House, My Life Program and it is named after a TV cameraman who was died whilst filming protest over public transport costs, Sanitago Andrade.
In my opinion, the city has made a very good move by opening a place like this for young people to learn and get qualifications, rather than wasting their time doing non-beneficial things. However, the city could have done better by not only waiting for a big event like the Olympic Games to happen there in order to start the urban transformation project. Developing the city by making it a better place for the citizens to stay is always their biggest responsibility and they should constantly do it all the time, not only when a big event is coming to the city.

4) What 3,000 Dollars Rents in Rio de Janeiro 2014

This article is about the rental prices that have exploded during the past 5 years, making 3,000 Dollars per month a relatively small budget to live in Rio de Janeiro. Among the most sought-after parts of the city is the South Zone which are Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo and Flamengo. These parts of Rio de Janeiro share some common characteristics which make them popular; beautiful beaches, excellent bars & restaurants and lovely neighborhood.
This article was easy to read because it listed down the places according to the approximate average apartment size for that price and the approximate average rent. From the article, we can see easily that Leblon is the most expensive neighborhood in the most sought-after South Zone. However, the "affordable" apartment in Flamengo neighborhood is still expensive, with the average apartment size of 86 meter square at the crazy price of 35 Dollars per meter square. 3,000 Dollars per month is surely never enough if you want to live in Rio de Janeiro.
